A few months after giving birth, a friend asked me, kind of tongue-in-cheek, if it hurt. I could’ve just said yes, but I hesitated. I was trying to avoid oversimplifying something that is very complex and important. Maybe in writing this I am overcomplicating something that is very straightforward and simple.
